Employee Engagement & Retention
Recent studies have confirmed that employee engagement, or rather the lack
thereof, is costing companies BILLIONS of dollars each year. Rather than
fully committed (a.k.a. “engaged”) employees who have totally “bought in”
to the Vision and Mission of the organization AND are passionate about their
ability to contribute toward achieving success in and with the enterprise,
money is being squandered paying salaries to people who are delivering in
a cautious manner, who are giving a “half-hearted” / compliant effort, or
are actively disengaged to the point of undermining required levels of performance.
Some things for an organization to consider are:
- What are leaders doing to ensure that employees who are committed
stay committed?
- What are leaders doing to ensure that anyone who is not fully committed
are moving in that direction?
- Are leaders willing to objectively address conditions that might
be creating dissatisfaction, …including their own behavior?
- Are leaders willing to listen to employees who are currently not
perceived as committed in order to consider potentially valuable input?
- What is happening in your organization that prevents managers from
getting the information they need to lead effectively?
- Are you losing people that you would like to have back?
- Are your exit interviews capturing worthwhile information that enables
proper action to prevent future turnover?
Spirk & Associates can help with the diagnosis of issues that impede full
engagement and can assist in the design and implementation of actions to
improve this. We can also conduct third-party Exit Interviews to gather
data that your internal HR department rarely obtains because people are
often concerned about “burning bridges”. We also help companies reconnect
with employees who exited, but have the critical skills / talent that is
still needed by the organization. The right questions, asked in the right
way, can often lead a talented person back to the organization.
