Increasing Diversity & Inclusion
A diverse workforce provides organizations with a competitive advantage.
This should not be news to many people, but in fact some managers have never
experienced the value that comes from broad diversity in their workforce.
Whether the subject is product development, marketing, sales, or any consumer-facing
position, anecdotes abound that range from missed opportunities to outright
blunders that have cost organizations hundreds of thousands of dollars.
For internal positions, diverse participation on task-teams and work-groups
has proven time and time again, that a broader set of ideas from multiple
perspectives will yield a better set of possible solutions to problems and
opportunity creation.
- Does your organization believe diversity is comprised primarily
of minorities and females?
- Does your organization understand and consciously act upon broad
inclusion prior to launching major initiatives?
- Does your organization stop at creating an Affirmative Action Plan,
or is this a living document?
- Does your recruiting function have a measurement for Diversity?
- Has anyone at your place of business ever discussed “micro-inequities”
and their impact on turnover / dissatisfaction?
- Do you ever hear the term “glass ceiling” used at your place of
business? Is anyone actively working to address this concern?
- Have you assessed what opportunities you might be missing due to
the lack of a diverse workforce?
Spirk & Associates can help with your efforts to broaden inclusion.
