Operations and Maintenance Training
In these days of documentation required for ISO, SOX, FDA/GMP’s, and many
more governance structures, it’s essential that we can assure that processes
are in control and repeatable at desired levels of quality. This assurance
must first be given to our customers, and secondarily (albeit often as important)
to regulatory agencies that can / do have an impact upon achievement of
the business strategy. When testing for this type of control / compliance,
one of the first questions asked by either an internal or external auditor,
is “How do you know that your processes are repeatable?” Evidence of this
is often available through SOP’s (standard operating procedures) as documentation.
And, then there are follow-on questions which can be even more important.
As such:
- Are your SOP’s for running your factories and maintaining operating
equipment clear? Or, are they typical, …written in the language of “Engineer-ese”?
- Can you prove that your operators / mechanics know, understand,
and routinely apply their skills?
- Are your operators / mechanics coming up the learning curve in record
time, which drives down yield-losses and drives up productivity?
- Does your operator / maintenance training integrate with your Safety
SOP’s, or are these different documents?
- Are you aware of and do you implement the 10 steps / best practices
approach to training operators and mechanics?
Spirk & Associates follows a time tested technique referred to as AMT (analytical
methods training). This approach has withstood the test of both time and
litigation. Of course, the methodology provides documentation of the learning,
but more importantly it provides your business with employees who are capable
of making good decisions on behalf of your business that both assure quality
output and maximum efficiency of your workforce. Use of the approach has
also been correlated to multi-year reductions in safety incident / lost-time
rates. With a track record that runs from training a single site trainer,
to the construction of a multi-million dollar training facility, to the
development of a multi-site plan, we have the know-how to help you design
a program that works.
